PLATE 10: DISCOVERY OF THE FIRST BEE SKEPS, BRAUNTON MARSH. Peter was ordered by Bindon-Bhore to personally oversee aerial reconnaissance using the newly renovated gliders. Peter was horrified that the expedition was rapidly devolving into a search for “piss and hoof honey, avoided by even the most backward bumpkins of the Bavarian bootheel”. However, he chose to cooperate, hoping that if the honey was harvested quickly, there would still be plenty of opportunity to continue the gliding experiments before the seasonal winds changed.
