PLATE 3: MAP READING NEAR BAGGY POINT. Peter next set himself the task of rebuilding the survey camera he had been using to document the expedition with: “I have constructed a panoramic camera that has a full 360 degree survey from a defunct movie camera and an old Rollieflex. I have taken to sitting behind it and photographing our progress.” This photographic journal was later to prove invaluable in determining the ultimate fate of the expedition.
